Cyanotype Bleicher

Cyanotypes are generally famous for their deep blue colors. But it's also possible to alter these afterward.

Using our Flic Film bleaching bath, the cyanotype can first be bleached and then toned.

Contents: 100g powder

Application

Dissolve 1 1/2 teaspoons of bleach per 1L of water.

Place the cyanotype to be bleached in the bleaching bath and wait until the blue areas of the image have largely disappeared or no further changes occur.

You can then place the image in another toning bath. Materials with a high tannin content, such as strong tea, or our optimized Flic Film Tannin Toner are ideal for this.

Important:

For best results, the blue cyanotype pigment should be fully developed before bleaching. This can be achieved by allowing the cyanotype sufficient time to oxidize, or by briefly placing the wet image in a bath of 0.3% hydrogen peroxide immediately after development.
